I have a little list
I don’t know about you, but I’ve kinda lost track of all the gunplay incidents recently. So I decided I’d try to make a little list since the beginning of the year just including incidents in PSA 308. I started with the police stats and then added reports of other shooting incidents that have been reported in the blogs, but which didn’t appear in the police listing. This covers only the incidents involving shootings and/or guns and does NOT include the home invasions of a few weeks back. Nor does it include other crimes such as auto theft, burglary, theft from auto, etc. Still, when you put it all together, it’s a pretty impressive list. Feel free to comment with additions or corrections; I make no claim that this is complete or totally accurate. The numbers in parens refer to the police case number.

holy shit. i never thought i'd say this, but when my husband and I have kids, we're moving out, way out. not suburbia, maybe like nebraska. this is just not cool. I love shaw for so many reasons, but I can only stay behind bars in my own house for so long.

Is this all DC WARD 2? The Ward represented by Jack Evans? If so, would somebody who lives in this Ward please send this in a letter to his office and ask him what his immediate intentions that will conribute to a response to this?
I live just north of this area (In the Greater U Street Historic District), and WOULD send a letter to Jack Evans, but, I am represented by Jim Graham in Ward 1.
I may, however, take this, if you don't mind, and send this to the Mayor and ask him: "what are your plans to respond to this?"

Hey, we're in Fentyland, "bidness as usual," where the thugs can again feel comfable. Eight years of Williams has come to an abrupt end, folks. From now on its money for the rehab programs, money for the churches, money for heating bills, money for the rent. But just you wait, just like the Barry years, when the police ask for new radios, new cruisers, or access to crime videos. Not a penny to spare. When you want vacant properties boarded up and grafitti painted over, or, G-d forbid, a dog park, you're a gentrifier.
Nota bene: I made a mistake on one location of an incident on 1/3. Should have been 600 block of N, not 600 block of 6th. My bad. I've corrected this in the post now.
yesterday, while waiting for the G2 we were chatting at the 5th and P. one neighbor expressed he moved into the neighborhood with his mother 8 years ago. he lives on the northside of the 400 block of P. (he works two jobs and is african american). he WALKS from shaw/howard to new jersey/P at 11 30 pm and his mother is afraid for him. he said with the robbers and shooters he doesnt now if he will make it every night and he is scared. he is afraid for his mother who walks home from the GIANT.
Don't move to Nebraska! It's a disgrace that our nation's capital has been taken over by whorish politicians and easily-bought, lazy and cowardly constituants who abandon their kids to ignorance and death as they kill each themselves in a so-called "hip-hop" culture. Enough! Be an agent of positive change. If there is one thing you do in life, you could do worse than remaking, yes even redeeming DC, and its people...
